Darren O'Loughlin recalled one of the last shearings held at Toganmain — back in August 2016.
That year, heavy floods meant the sheep couldn’t be walked down to Cooinbil as planned. Instead, over 200 rams were brought into the Toganmain shed and shore there. The shed wasn’t in the best condition — some of the gates were held together with wire — but the job still got done.
A young assistant managed the penning and pressing with care and determination, and despite the wet and the workarounds, the shed came to life again. Darren's memory of it all captured what seems to run deep through Toganmain: resilience, teamwork, and the ability to adapt when needed.
Luckily for us, someone had their phone out. A handful of Live Photos were taken during the shearing, and I was able to extract the moving parts and stitch them together into a quirky little one-minute video. It’s a brief, gritty snapshot of that day — and a great reminder that even the most recent history is worth keeping hold of.
