Toganmain 150th Anniversary Celebration – What a Weekend!
Hello everyone,
We just wanted to share what a fantastic weekend we had celebrating the Toganmain Woolshed’s 150th Anniversary. Epic – but fantastic!
We estimate that over 800 people attended across the weekend. It was a heartwarming and memorable few days filled with connection, history, and celebration.
Dinner on the Board
The Dinner on the Board was a standout event. The setup looked amazing – a big thank you to Kylie and her team of creatives who brought the table settings to life. It was a little chilly, but the music was so good people couldn’t resist getting up and dancing.
Michell Wool kindly sponsored part of the evening – our thanks to them for supporting the celebration.
Markets, Merchandise & Memories
A great mix of market stalls joined us for the weekend, and the merchandise table was a hit – shirts, beanies, mugs, books and more, with some items selling out. Proceeds will help cover costs not supported by grants. Thanks to our amazing volunteers for making it happen.
History Room & Book Launch
The old dining room was transformed into a striking display space with historic photos of the woolshed, thanks to Troy and Dobija Design. It was the perfect setting for the launch of Lexie Keane’s Toganmain Woolshed Then and Now – a valuable record of our local history.
A Homecoming for Many
So many people with deep connections to Toganmain returned for the anniversary. For many, it was an emotional reconnection with the past – a reminder that this project isn’t just about restoring a building, but also about preserving memories and honouring personal histories.
The event also brought about many reunions – some between people who hadn’t seen each other in decades.
Toganmain in the Media
We were thrilled to welcome ABC Landline back to Toganmain. They filmed a follow-up story, which will air this Sunday – we hope you tune in!
We also enjoyed hosting Georgie from R.M. Williams OUTBACK Magazine for three days – she was great fun, and we’re looking forward to the upcoming article.
Good News on the Restoration Front
In more good news, we’ve received funding from the National Trust, as well as a grant from Heritage NSW. This will allow us to repair the windows, doors, and chimneys of the old quarters.
These repairs mean we can create basic accommodation, which will be invaluable if we secure a company to undertake major works on the woolshed – reducing the need for travel during the workweek.
Thanks to Our Volunteers
A heartfelt thank you to our incredible team of volunteers – both new faces and familiar ones. Your effort and commitment were the backbone of the weekend’s success. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Regards,
Chris
